Seychellois kat

History

This is fairly new breed that was created in the UK in the 1980s. The cat was created by a breeder called Patricia Turner. Turner wanted to create a breed that resembled the distinctive pattern coats of cats found in the Seychelles.

The Seychellois cat was created by crossing a Siamese with a tortie and white persian. Later on in the breeding programme Oriental cats were added and the result was a long-headed, slender cat with large ears. There are three types of Seychellois; huitiéme (with the largest colour patches), septiéme, and neuviéme (with the least colour). Today the only major cat registry to recognize the breed is the Fédération Internationale Féline.

Behaviour

This is a very vocal breed that has a reputation for scattiness. They are very affectionate and will love to curl up on the lap of their favourite person. This can be a demanding breed, but owning a Seychellois will be entertaining and you will have a constant companion.

Varieties

Always have a white base colour, but come with self, tortie, and tabby colour points.
